Fall Activity Guide

Fall is in the air and that means campfires & hayrides!

It’s hayride’s and apple pickin’ season! We put together a list of our favorite local orchards and activities for you to check out this Fall.

Butlers Orchard (Germantown, Maryland)

Address: 22222 Davis Mill Rd, Germantown, MD 20876 | Weekend hours: 10am – 5pm

What to do at Butlers Orchard:

  • Evening Hayrides and Bonfires
    • Your Group Hayride and Bonfire includes a 40 minute tractor driven hayride around the farm, a two-hour bonfire, one picnic table, and a crisp Butler’s Orchard apple (September-Thanksgiving) for each person.  Your site is yours until the Farm closes at 11:00 pm. (Package is $360 per wagon, maximum 30 people per wagon)
    • Tuesday through Sunday, April through mid-December
    • Reservation times:  6:15 pm, 6:30 pm, 7:15 pm, 7:30 pm, and 8:30 pm
    • If you would like to schedule your hayride for a day of the week or time of day not listed online, please call us.  Depending on seasonal availability, we can often be flexible.
  • Pumpkin Harvest

Larriland Farms (Woodbine, Maryland)

Address: 2415 Woodbine Road, Woodbine, Maryland 21797 | Weekend Hours: 9am-5pm

What to do at Larriland:

  • Saturday/Sunday Hayrides in the Fall
    • This is a twenty minute tractor drawn hayride around the farm, through the woods and through a stream. The woods are decorated with storybook characters handcrafted by the Larriland artists.
  • Group evening Hayrides in the Fall
    • Includes a 45 minute night time hayride around the farm and through the woods and can be followed by an optional campfire for your story telling and singing.
  • Apple Picking

Montpelier Farms (Upper Marlboro, Maryland)

Address: 1720 Crain Highway North, Upper Marlboro, Maryland 20774

What to do at Montpelier:

  • Pumpkin Patch
    • Pumpkin Patch closes at 10:00 pm on Friday’s and Saturday’s and 7:00 pm on Sunday’s
  • Campfires
    • Campfires are available all Fridays, Saturdays, & Sundays during the months of September thru November
    • 3-Hour Private Campfire for ~10 people ($175)

    • Try our flashlight nights on Saturday nights and Friday nights beginning in October open until 11:00 PM.
    • GET LOST with our 7 acres of corn maze craze…or enjoy our smaller “Jack and the Cornstalk” corn maze for the little ones!

Summers Farm (Frederick, Maryland)

Address: 5620 Butterfly Lane, Frederick, MD 21703

What to do at Summers Farm:

  • Corn Field Maze
    • The farm is open after dark on Friday and Saturday nights!  Bring your flashlights and get lost in the dark paths of the maze! It’s a little spooky, but a LOT fun!
  • Campfires
    • Each campfire can accommodate up to 30-50 people. (Reservations required!)
    • Reservation fee for Friday night, Saturday afternoon and Sunday afternoon is $75 per campfire.  Saturday night reservation fee is $85 per campfire.
    • S’mores Package may be purchased for $2.50 per person – we will provide individually packaged S’mores kits (graham crackers, marshmallows, and chocolate bars).  Orders must be placed at least seven days in advance.
    • Runs through Sunday, October 30th; Fridays from 6:30pm – 10pm; Saturdays from 1pm – 5pm | 5:30pm – 9:30pm | 6:30pm – 10pm; Sundays from 1pm – 5pm


Virginia Farms

Cox Farms (Centreville, VA) – Northern Virginia’s largest and most famous Fall Festival!

What to do at Cox Farms: 

  • Fall Festival
    • Fall Festival hours: 10 AM-6 PM* (*5 PM in November)
  • Fields of Fear!
    • Dark Side Hayride
    • Firegrounds
      • It’s a party on the farm! Hang out and enjoy the Fall night around one of our blazing fires
    • Cornightmare
      • Imagine a ¾ mile walk through a dark cornfield containing all the ingredients for a gourmet nightmare.
    • The Forest back fields
      • Walk more than half a mile through the dark woods, if you dare!

The Corn Maze in the Plains (Plains, VA)

Hours: Open every Saturday and Sunday, 10 am-6 pm | Admission includes barnyard of fun, 5-acre corn maze, picnic area, and hayrides (weekends only): $11

What to Do at the Corn Maze:

  • Night Maze at the Corn Maze
  • Pick pumpkins!
    • Choose from thousands upon thousands of PUMPKINS, PUMPKINS of all sizes from ones that will fit in the palm of your hand to 100+ pounders that take at least 2 people to move.
  • Barnyard of Fun
    • Includes farm animals, petting zoo, haybale maze, giant slides, hay loft, corn filled tires, tractor tire playland, tire swings, rope maze, obstacle course, pumpkin sling shot and more!
  • Private campfires
    • Rent a campfire site at the Corn Maze in the Plains, Virginia, on Friday and Saturday nights (and select Sunday nights), right near the Barnyard of Fun in the meadow! Located at the far end of the Barnyard, you’ll be in close proximity to the 5 acre corn maze, mini mazes, obstacle course, fidget ladders, giant slides, roll tubes, and more!


Hollins Farm (Delaplane, VA)
